1. Soak the Polygonatum odoratum in cold water, drain and cut into small pieces for later use.

2. Wash the chicken, cut into thin slices, mix with cornstarch, blanch in boiling water and set aside.

3. Take a deep pot, add 12 cups of water, bring to a boil over high heat, then turn to low heat, add the washed rice and the Polygonatum odoratum from step 1 and continue cooking for 50 minutes. Add the chicken slices from step 2 and cook for 10 minutes before seasoning.

To remove the fishy smell when cooking with chicken, you must pay attention to the following aspects:

1. When washing the chicken, be sure to cut off the chicken's butt and dig out the blood clots and internal organs stuck inside and outside the chicken.

2. Whether you are cooking the whole chicken or chopping it into pieces and stewing it, you must first blanch it in water. This is because when the chicken skin is heated, the pores open up, which can expel some of the skin fat and oil, thus removing the fishy smell.

3. Before stir-frying or frying, it is best to marinate with soy sauce and cooking wine.
