Introduction of Honey Porridge

Indications: Suitable for fatigue, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, dry cough or chronic cough caused by spleen and stomach deficiency, and constipation caused by physical weakness and lack of body fluid.

Explanation of the meaning of porridge: Honey, also known as rock honey, edible honey, white honey, and honey, is a sugar substance made by Chinese honey bees in the honeycomb of the family Apidae. It is produced in all parts of my country. It is usually diluted and boiled with water, filtered to remove impurities, and then concentrated for use. Because honey is made by bees absorbing the essence of hundreds of flowers, it is also called "the essence of hundreds of flowers"; because it is easy to digest and suitable for the elderly, it is also known as "milk for the elderly".

Benefits of Honey Porridge

According to traditional Chinese medicine, honey is sweet and mild in nature, and enters the lung, spleen, and large intestine meridians. It has the functions of tonifying qi, relieving pain, moistening the lungs and relieving cough, moistening the intestines and relieving constipation, and detoxifying and curing sores. The Shennong's Herbal Classic says that it "tonifies qi, relieves pain, detoxifies, eliminates many diseases, harmonizes hundreds of medicines, and strengthens the will after long-term use." "Ming Yi Bie Lu" says that it "nourishes the spleen and relieves restlessness." "Ben Cao Na Mu" summarizes its medicinal effects most clearly, saying that it "harmony the Ying and Wei, moistens the internal organs, unblocks the three burners, regulates the spleen and stomach... It has five medicinal functions: clearing away heat, tonifying the middle, detoxifying, and moistening dryness; it is warm in nature when cooked, so it can tonify the middle; it is sweet and peaceful, so it can detoxify; it is soft and moist, so it can moisten dryness; it can relieve urgency, so it can stop pain in the heart, abdomen, muscles, and sores; it can harmonize the middle, so it can harmonize hundreds of medicines and has the same function as licorice." Pharmacological studies have shown that honey mainly contains fructose and glucose (both account for about 70%), which is 17 times that of milk, and the amino acid content is 4-6 times that of beef and chicken. In addition, it also contains small amounts of sucrose, maltose, dextrin, gum and nitrogen-containing compounds, organic acids, volatile oils, pigments, yeast, enzymes, inorganic salts, vitamins and trace elements. It has the function of strengthening the body and brain, promoting metabolism, and enhancing disease resistance; it can improve myocardial function, increase coronary blood flow, and increase the hemoglobin content in the blood. Regular consumption of porridge can not only strengthen the body, but also moisturize the intestines, and is especially suitable for middle-aged and elderly people.

Note:

1. The chemical composition of honey varies greatly depending on the bee species, nectar source, and environment. In some areas, there are a large number of highly toxic nectar plants, such as Tripterygium wilfordii, Malus kunmingensis, Machilus oleraceus, and Aedes aegypti. If bees collect honey made from their pollen, it may cause poisoning, so you should be careful when using it;

2. It is contraindicated for patients with internal excessive phlegm, fullness and distension in the abdomen, and loose bowels and loose stools.
