How to make dried carambola sugar How to make dried carambola sugar

Star fruit is a fruit with very high nutritional value. Eating star fruit in summer can relieve heat and quench thirst, and can also promote salivation. If you cannot finish eating fresh star fruit after picking it, you can also make it into dried star fruit. When making dried star fruit, adding some white sugar can make the dried star fruit sweeter and more refreshing. Let's take a look at the method of making dried star fruit.

Production method of dried carambola sugar

1. Prepare the carambola

First, soak the fresh carambolas in warm water, then wash them under the tap and cut them into long strips. You can also cut them horizontally into thin five-pointed star shapes. This depends on personal preference. I personally think that the five-pointed star slices are better looking and look cute.

2. Boil licorice

When making dried carambolas, you can also add some ingredients, here are bay leaves and licorice. First wash them with clean water, then put them in the pot, add a small amount of water, turn on a low heat, and cook for about five minutes. Note that the cooking time here should not be too long, five minutes is enough.

3. Pickled carambola

Put the cut carambolas in a large bowl, add the cooked licorice and bay leaves, add sugar, salt and vinegar on top of the carambolas, stir well, cover the bowl, put it in a cool and dry place, and marinate for at least ten hours. This will allow the seasonings to fully penetrate into the carambolas and make them taste better.

4. Make dried carambola sugar

Take out the pickled carambolas, squeeze out the water, add a large amount of sugar to the pot, then pour in the carambolas, and cook slowly over low heat until the sugar is completely melted and the carambolas turn transparent. Then, place the carambolas neatly on the grill and bake them at 100 degrees. After five hours, reduce the temperature to 50 degrees and bake for another hour. Take out the carambolas, mix with a little sugar, and you can eat them.
