Hawthorn is a fruit with a particularly sour taste. It is bright red on the outside, and the flesh inside is mostly light yellow with seeds in the middle. It can stimulate appetite and help digestion, and can also prevent weight loss. However, hawthorn tastes particularly sour when eaten directly, so people like to make it into sweet and sour hawthorn water before drinking it. So how should hawthorn water be boiled? I will write down the method and share it with you later.

How to make hawthorn water

1. When boiling hawthorn water, you need to prepare an appropriate amount of hawthorn and rock sugar. The ratio of hawthorn to rock sugar should be between 3:1 and 4:1. And the hawthorn must be selected from high-quality hawthorns that are naturally ripe and free of pets and rot. Wash it with clean water and remove its stems with a fruit knife.

2. Cut the hawthorn in the middle and remove the seeds inside. Put the hawthorn pulp in a clean stainless steel pot, add the prepared rock sugar, add an appropriate amount of water, bring to a boil, and continue to simmer on medium-low heat for 40 minutes. At this time, the water in the pot will turn light red, and the hawthorn will become soft. The delicious hawthorn water is ready and can be taken out and cooled before consumption.

How to make hawthorn water

1. When making hawthorn water, you need to prepare fresh hawthorn and appropriate amount of white sugar, prepare enough clean water, and also prepare appropriate amount of table salt. Dilute the prepared table salt in clean water to make light salt water, and soak the fresh hawthorn in the light salt water.

2. Take out the hawthorn after soaking, cut it with a fruit knife to remove the seeds and stems, cut the pulp into pieces and rinse it with clean water. Put the prepared white sugar into the pot, add enough water, heat it over high heat and bring to a boil, then simmer over low heat for about half an hour. Turn off the heat when the hawthorn pulp in the pot is cooked until it is soft.

3. Don’t rush to take out the water after turning off the fire. Let the boiled hawthorn water stay in the pot overnight. You can take out the sweet and sour hawthorn water the next morning. The taste of the boiled hawthorn water will be more tempting after being refrigerated. In addition, when people boil hawthorn water at home, they can also add an appropriate amount of lemon juice, which will give the boiled water a light lemon fragrance and prevent the boiled hawthorn water from deteriorating during storage.
