Seal the jar with straw, and then store it in a cool low-temperature environment. The chestnuts can be preserved for several months without deterioration. 4. If you buy fewer fresh chestnuts, you can also use your home refrigerator to preserve them. The best way is to put the fresh chestnuts directly into a sealable fresh-keeping box, seal it, and then store it in the freezer of the refrigerator. This way, the fresh chestnuts can be stored for several years without deteriorating. When you want to eat them, take out the chestnuts in advance to thaw them, then put them in a pot and cook them.
