How to store homemade cherry jam

Cherries are bright red and delicious, and are a favorite fruit for many people. They can beautify the skin and replenish blood. Cherries are not only delicious, but there are many ways to eat them. They are especially delicious when made into jam, and are easy for the human body to absorb and utilize the nutrients in them. But how should we make jam with cherries, and how should we preserve the jam?

Tips for making homemade cherry jam

Material

To make cherry jam at home, you need to prepare one kilogram of fresh cherries, 50 grams of white sugar, 100 grams of rock sugar, one lemon, and an appropriate amount of water.

Steps

1. Wash the prepared fresh cherries with clean water and drain them. Then remove the stems and the pits in the middle to get the cherry pulp, and then chop the pulp with a knife.

2. Put the chopped cherry pulp into a bowl, add the prepared white sugar and mix well, then marinate. The marinating time should be one to two hours. Wash the prepared lemon and chop it into pieces. Take out the lemon juice and put it into the marinated cherries.

3. After pickling the cherries, put them in a pot, add a small amount of water, bring to a boil over high heat, and then simmer over medium or low heat. Stir constantly during the simmering process. When the cherry pulp in the pot becomes soft, sticky and thick, you can turn off the heat. After cooling down, the homemade cherry jam is ready.

How to preserve cherry jam

1. Low temperature storage

Cherry jam made at home can be stored for a long time in a low-temperature environment. It is best to put it in a bowl, cover it with a layer of plastic wrap, and then put it in the refrigerator. This can ensure that the cherry jam will not deteriorate for 10 to 15 days.

2. Store in sealed containers

Cherry jam made at home can be stored in a sealed environment. It is best to choose a clean glass bottle that can be sealed. After high-temperature sterilization, control the moisture inside, then put the prepared cherries in it, seal it, and then store it in the refrigerator. This way, the cherry jam you make can be stored for several months without deteriorating.
