How to Shell Ginkgo Nuts Quick Methods and Techniques for Shelling Ginkgo Nuts

Many people know that ginkgo nuts are rich in nutrients and have excellent health benefits. They can not only beautify, but also delay aging and prevent diseases. However, when eating ginkgo nuts, they don’t know how to remove the outer white hard shell. In fact, if you want to remove the outer shell of ginkgo nuts, brute force will not work. There are certain methods and techniques. Only by mastering these methods and techniques can you easily remove the outer hard shell of ginkgo nuts and eat the delicious ginkgo kernels.

1. Method 1

The white shell on the outside of the ginkgo nut is very hard and cannot be removed by hand. However, this nut has pointed ends. The narrower end is called the top end, and the flatter and wider end is called the bottom end. When shelling, you can use a knife to cut off a small part of the shell at the bottom end, and then apply force to both sides of the small hole to easily remove the ginkgo nut shell.

2. Method 2

The shell of ginkgo can be removed with the help of a microwave oven. Usually, you can wash the ginkgo with clean water, drain the water and place it directly on the baking tray of the microwave. Cover the top with plastic wrap and then put it in the microwave. Heat it on high heat for two minutes. After removing the plastic wrap, you will find that there is a crack at the tip of the ginkgo. At this time, you can remove the shell by gently peeling off along the crack.

3. Method 3

If you don't have a microwave at home, you can still easily remove the shells of ginkgo nuts. It is best to prepare an appropriate amount of pepper and salt. Then wash the ginkgo nuts, remove the moisture and salt, put them in a wok, and stir-fry back and forth over medium heat. When the ginkgo nuts are cooked, their shells will automatically crack. At this time, take them out and gently push them with your hand, and the shells will fall off.

4. Method 4

When removing the shell of ginkgo nuts, you can also use tools. Because the ginkgo nuts look big in the middle and small at both ends, you can prepare a clip to clamp the middle part of the nuts and squeeze it hard. The shell will crack open. Then apply force to both sides along the opening to remove the shell of the ginkgo nuts.
