Strawberry cultivation methods and planting conditions

Strawberry cultivation methods and planting conditions

As a fruit with good taste and high nutritional value, many people like to eat strawberries. Therefore, there are also many people who like to grow strawberries. Here I would like to introduce to you the cultivation methods and growth conditions of strawberries . If you want to grow strawberries, you can study them carefully.

How to grow strawberries

Soil requirements for strawberry cultivation

Strawberries are best grown in sunny, water-repellent soils with a depth of about 8 to 10 inches.

For large strawberries, the row spacing should be 12 inches and the plant spacing should be about 18 inches. Remove the vines of the plants in time to facilitate the fruiting of the strawberries. Strawberry production is cyclical, so it is best to cultivate some new plants in the first few years of planting.

If you don't like managing strawberries, you can plant one strawberry every 18 to 24 inches, so that the strawberries can grow everywhere. Of course, it will look a bit messy and the strawberries will not be big. If you want to avoid this, you can remove some vines appropriately.

Planting strawberries in autumn

In the fall, cover the plants with a layer of soil to prevent frost. After the soil freezes, you can cover the plants with 3 to 4 inches of hay. In the spring of the second year, when new leaves grow, remove the hay. When the weather warms up and stabilizes, remove the soil covering the surface of the plants. But leave some hay between the rows to prevent the growth of weeds and retain soil moisture.

The growth cycle of strawberries

Strawberry planting has a three-year cycle. In the first year, only a few strawberries can be harvested, but in the second year, a lot can be harvested. However, in the third year or three years later, the yield of strawberries will drop significantly, and the plants need to be replaced. Therefore, it is necessary to arrange the cultivation of new plants reasonably to ensure that there are always some second-year strawberries every year to obtain the greatest economic benefits.

When the strawberry grows well, it will grow a vine, and new small plants will grow at the end of the vine. When the small plant grows 3 to 4 leaves, you can cut it off and plant it in another flower pot, and pay attention to watering. It is best not to let the new plant of the first year bear strawberries, just let it grow more leaves. So when you find that the new strawberry blooms in a year, you should pick off the flowers. At the same time, don't forget to hang a small sign on the plant and write the planting date of the new column, so as not to forget it later. Remove other extra vines on the new plant. If the strawberry is planted in the yard, you must also pay attention to weeding. When watering, be careful not to get the strawberries wet, because once the strawberries are splashed with water, they are easy to rot.

The various situations of strawberries in the world

The main production areas are distributed in the eastern coastal areas such as Anhui, Liaoning, Hebei, Shandong, Jiangsu, Shanghai, and Zhejiang. In recent years, Sichuan, Anhui, Xinjiang, and Beijing have also developed rapidly. The key strawberry producing areas include Pizhou, Jiangsu, Sihong, Jiangsu, Hefei, Anhui, Dandong, Liaoning, Baoding, Hebei, Yantai, Shandong, Anqiu, Weifang, Shanghai Suburbs, Shuangliu, Sichuan, and Lianyungang, Jiangsu.

By 2012, it will expand to more than 200,000 mu and build the country's only national-level virus-free strawberry science and technology park. Every year, promotion meetings are held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing and the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing, and dealer-to-straightener meetings are held at the Beijing Xinfadi Market, Tianjin Hongqi Market, and Shenyang Fruit Wholesale Market.
