Functions and indications of Elaeagnus angustifolia flowers

Relieve cough and asthma.

[Prescription] For the treatment of chronic bronchitis: 2 qian of dried Elaeagnus angustifolia flower (roasted with honey) (3 to 5 qian of fresh), decocted in water and taken twice a day; or 1 liang of Elaeagnus angustifolia flower (roasted with honey), 3 qian each of white mustard seeds, almonds (peeled and roasted with honey), and 3 qian each of peucedanum, 1 qian of licorice, grind them into fine powder, take 3 qian each time, 2 to 3 times a day. (The properties and flavors are listed in "Medicinal Plants in Desert Areas of China") It contains 0.1% volatile oil, the main component of which is ethyl cinnamate, and there are 47 components in total, including: dibutyl 1,2-phthalate, phenyl ethyl alcohol, 6,10,14-trimethyl-2-pentadecanone, isobutyl cinnamate, 3-hydroxy-2-butanone-2-butanone, bicyclo[4,2,0]-octa-1,2,5-triene, phenylethyl benzoate, etc. It also contains flavonoid glycosides, the aglycone of which is kaempferol. It also contains leacoantho-cyanin, amino acids, and fatty oils.

【Habitat distribution】

Ecological environment: 1. Born in desert areas, it is drought-resistant and cold-resistant, and is widely cultivated in sandy land, salinized land, and on the edges of villages and fields.

2.Habitat is the same as that of Elaeagnus angustifolia.

3. Grown in low-lying, moist areas of Gobi beaches or sand dunes at an altitude of 400-660m, as well as on the edges of fields and roadsides, either wild or cultivated.

Resource distribution: 1. Distributed in North China, Northwest China and Liaoning.

2. Distributed in Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Gansu, Xinjiang and other places.

3. Distributed in western Inner Mongolia, Hexi Corridor in Gansu and Xinjiang.
