Nutritional value and benefits of litchi

Lychee is also known as Danli, Lizhi, Xiangguo, Leli, Lizhi, etc. There are many varieties and people love to eat them. Let us learn about them together.

litchi

Litchi is the fruit of the plant Litchi chinensis of the Sapindaceae family. It is native to southern my country and is cultivated most in Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Sichuan, Taiwan, Yunnan, etc. The fruit is harvested when it is ripe between June and July each year, the shell is peeled off, and the aril (litchi flesh) is taken out for fresh use or dried for later use.

The fruit is heart-shaped or spherical, with many scaly protrusions on the pericarp, which is bright red, purple-red, green or bluish-white. When fresh, the pseudocarp is translucent and creamy, juicy and sweet.

Lychee is rich in sugar, protein, multiple vitamins, fat, citric acid, pectin, phosphorus, iron, etc. It is a fruit beneficial to human health.

Nutritional value of lychee

The sugar content in litchi pulp is as high as 20%; the vitamin C content in every 100 ml of juice can be up to 70 mg. In addition, it also contains protein, fat, citric acid, fruit acid, phosphorus, calcium, iron and other ingredients.

However, lychees are very hot, and some people will have sore mouths or nosebleeds if they eat too much. There is a saying in Guangdong: "One lychee is three hot things." People who are hot-tempered will have reactions if they eat ten or so. The popular solution is to drink an appropriate amount of light salt water or honey water. =

Benefits of Lychee

There is a saying that goes "one bite of lychee can cause three fires", don't think it is an exaggeration, for people with yin deficiency and liver heat, it is really true. I have a patient who got a fire because of eating lychees in a group.

It should be noted that lychee is a blood-tonifying and yang-strengthening fruit. People with fever should hold back when eating this delicious fruit. Gout and diabetes patients should not eat too much.

If you eat too many lychees, you can drink the following tea, which can reduce internal heat: use 3 qian (9 grams) of Scrophularia, 3 qian (9 grams) of Ophiopogon japonicus, and 3 rushes, boil them in 3 bowls of water to make 1 bowl. Or you can eat watermelon, which is cold in nature, and drink a bowl of lotus leaf and winter melon water, which can also slightly reduce excessive internal heat.

1. The rich sugars in litchi can replenish energy and increase nutrition. Studies have shown that litchi can nourish brain tissue and significantly improve insomnia, forgetfulness, fatigue and other symptoms.

2. Lychee meat is rich in vitamin C and protein, which helps to enhance the body's immune function and improve disease resistance;

3. Lychee contains a substance that has the effect of lowering blood sugar, which is very suitable for diabetic patients;

4. Lychee has the effects of reducing swelling, detoxifying, stopping bleeding and relieving pain;

5. Lychees are rich in vitamins, which can promote blood circulation in capillaries, prevent the occurrence of freckles and make the skin smoother.

Litchi is suitable for people

1. It is especially suitable for pregnant women, the elderly, people with weak constitutions, and those recovering from illness; it is also suitable for those with anemia, cold stomach, and bad breath;

2. Diabetics should use litchi with caution. People with Yin deficiency and hyperactivity of fire and symptoms of internal heat should not eat it, so as not to aggravate the symptoms of internal heat. People with dry throat pain, swollen gums, nose bleeding and other symptoms caused by Yin deficiency should not eat it. Litchi contains tannins, methanol, etc., eating too much can easily cause internal heat, so people with dry throat pain, swollen gums, nose bleeding and other symptoms caused by Yin deficiency should not eat it.

Edible effects of litchi

Litchi tastes sweet, sour and warm in nature, and enters the heart, spleen and liver meridians; the flesh has the effects of nourishing the spleen and liver, regulating qi and replenishing blood, warming the middle and relieving pain, nourishing the heart and calming the mind; the core has the effects of regulating qi, dispersing nodules and relieving pain; it can stop hiccups and diarrhea, and is a good food therapy for those with stubborn hiccups and early morning diarrhea. It also has the effects of nourishing the brain and body, stimulating the appetite and benefiting the spleen, and promoting appetite.
