The difference between morning glory and cup flower

The difference between morning glory and cup flower

There are many similar wild plants growing in nature. Cupid's vine and morning glory are particularly similar. They both belong to the Convolvulaceae family and look very similar. If you don't know much about them, it is difficult to distinguish them. However, there are certain differences between cupid's vine and morning glory. Only by understanding the difference between them can you easily distinguish them.

The difference between morning glory and cup flower

1. Plant species

Although both the convolvulus and morning glory belong to the Convolvulaceae family, they belong to different plant species. The convolvulus is a herbaceous vine with relatively hard and upright stems, while the morning glory is a relatively soft, twining vine that needs to grow on other plants to grow normally.

2. Blade shape

The leaf shapes of morning glory and chrysanthemum are also different. The leaves of the former are mostly pointed, like arrows, and the leaves are relatively small, while the leaves of morning glory are relatively large and can be divided into two different varieties, new type and maple leaf type. Just like the cross-section of a peach, if you put the leaves of these two plants together, you can easily find the difference between them.

3. Flower size

Although the flower shapes of cupressus and morning glory are similar, there is a clear difference in the size of the flowers of these two plants. The flowers of cupressus are relatively small, only as big as a one-yuan coin when blooming, but the flowers of morning glory are relatively large, with a diameter of more than 10 centimeters.

4. Plant morphology

There are also obvious differences in plant morphology between morning glory and cupula. The former will crawl on the ground or grow upright when growing, and has very poor climbing ability, while morning glory has super strong climbing ability and will grow rapidly along other plants or objects.

5. Medicinal effects

The medicinal effects of morning glory and clematis are also different. The medicinal effects of morning glory are more outstanding. The whole plant can be used as medicine. It has a particularly good analgesic effect after being used as medicine. It can also regulate spleen and stomach diseases, reduce inflammation and kill bacteria, and enhance the body's antiviral ability. However, the medicinal value of morning glory is relatively poor. After being used as medicine, it only has mild analgesic and slight anti-inflammatory effects. Its medicinal value is far lower than that of morning glory.
