Cultivation methods and precautions of Cymbidium orchid

Cultivation methods and precautions of Cymbidium orchid

Cymbidium orchids are native to tropical India and were later introduced to southern China. They were hybridized with local orchids to create new varieties. This plant has bright colors, large flowers, and excellent ornamental value. It can be cultivated in scenic spots or potted indoors. However, many people do not know how to cultivate it and what to pay attention to when cultivating this plant. Today, I will give you a detailed introduction.

Farming methods

1. Soil

The choice of soil is very important for growing cymbidium orchids. It likes loose, breathable and well-drained soil. You can usually use leaf mold to plant cymbidium orchids, or you can use moss charcoal and bark blocks to prepare potting soil. Ordinary culture soil cannot be used because their air permeability and drainage are relatively poor, which will cause the roots of cymbidium orchids to rot after planting.

2. Moisture

To cultivate Cymbidium, only by watering it properly can it grow normally. Cymbidium is a plant that likes high temperature and high humidity air. The roots should be given sufficient water in spring, summer and autumn, and the leaves should be sprayed with water in time. However, after flowering in early spring, Cymbidium will enter a short dormant period. It is necessary to reduce the water supply. Only after the new buds grow larger can more water be given.

3. Sunlight

Cymbidium is a sun-loving plant. It likes to grow in a sunny environment, but it cannot accept strong light. It is best to place it in an environment with sufficient scattered light. However, after entering the flowering period, Cymbidium should be placed in a place with weaker light, so that its flowers can be more colorful.

Precautions

During the cultivation of cymbidium, we must pay attention to the prevention of diseases and insect pests. When leaf spot disease, gray mold and other diseases occur, we must spray carbendazim in time. After the pest occurs, we must catch it in time or spray it with medicine. In addition, when cultivating cymbidium, we must also pay attention to pruning. Its pseudobulbs generally contain more than four leaf buds. In order to prevent their nutritional molecules, the small buds born in the heart must be completely removed.
