Management of Spring Loofah Tips for Planting Loofah in Spring

The management of loofah is very important, so how to manage loofah in spring?

First, it is not advisable to keep the melons too early.

At present, the price of loofah is relatively high. When farmers keep loofah, they should not only consider the current price, but also consider the growth of loofah, leaving enough leaves to ensure adequate nutrition supply. Generally speaking, farmers usually keep loofah when the plants have 24-26 leaves in a large batch of loofah planted in winter, to ensure that the root system is well developed and the stems are strong, laying a good foundation for high-quality and high-yield loofah in the future.

In spring, the number of leaves should be at least 20-22 leaves to ensure the growth of roots and stems and cultivate strong plants.

The second is to prune the branches in time and leave the melons reasonably.

During the growth of the loofah, some side vines and melon strips will grow. They should be removed in time when no loofah is left. When the loofah grows to 22 leaves, start to keep the melons and pinch the top. But be aware that it is easy to cause the melons to jump when you keep them for the first time. Therefore, it is recommended that vegetable farmers should not keep only one melon, but two melons, and then remove the growth point on the upper part of the loofah. When dipping the flowers, it is best to dip both melons. After making sure that the melon strips are seated, remove the melon with relatively weaker growth. If the two melons grow in the same way, you should keep the melons according to the principle of keeping the upper ones and not leaving them.

After dipping the melon, it can be picked after about 10 days. After the upper growth point grows out, the melons are cut every 5-6 leaves to ensure sufficient leaf area for photosynthesis and promote the development of melon strips. As the temperature rises, the growth rate of the melon strips accelerates and the growth period will gradually shorten. After May, the melons can be picked after every 4-5 leaves.

Third, the height of the fallen vines must be ensured after picking the melons.

After picking the loofah, the vines need to be dropped. Many vegetable farmers drop the vines at a relatively low height, some less than 1.1 meters. In order to ensure that the loofah has enough leaves for photosynthesis, it is recommended that the height of the vines should not be too low. Generally, the height of the vines should be 1.4-1.5 meters. This ensures that there are 13-15 leaves for photosynthesis, which is beneficial to the growth of the plant. Otherwise, insufficient leaf area will affect the growth of the plant.
