Kidney Bean Planting Method

Kidney Bean Planting Method

Kidney beans are a very good vegetable. You can plant some kidney beans in the yard in autumn. Here are some tips on how to plant kidney beans:

1. Preparation before sowing

(1) Variety selection and seed treatment. Select high-quality milk-flowered kidney beans with suitable maturity, high yield, high quality and strong stress resistance as the main planting varieties. After the variety is selected, the seeds can be carefully selected, which can be mechanical or manual. Select seeds with full and shiny seeds, and remove diseased, broken and mixed seeds. The seed purity is required to be ≥98%, the cleanliness is ≥97%, the germination rate is ≥95%, and the water content is ≥13%. Treat the selected seeds. If they are to be germinated and sown manually, they can be soaked in 1% formalin solution for 20 minutes 2-3 days before sowing, and then rinsed with clean water to kill the anthracnose bacteria on the surface of the seeds. After soaking the seeds in warm water (40℃) for 3-4 hours, germinate them at 25-28℃ for 24 hours. When the radicle breaks through the seed coat (i.e., white), they can be placed in a cool place for sowing. If they are to be sown mechanically, 50% carbendazim wettable powder accounting for 5% of the seed weight can be mixed with the seeds 1-2 days before sowing to prevent root rot. Or add 2.25 kg of rhizobia to water per hectare and stir into a paste, mix with seeds, dry in the shade and then sow.

(2) Site selection and land preparation. Although kidney beans are relatively resistant to drought and barrenness, in order to achieve high yield and high efficiency, flat or flat land with high organic matter content and loose soil should be selected. The soil pH value should be 6.0-7.5. Avoid repeated or intermittent planting. It is strictly forbidden to plant on the stubble of leguminous crops. Land preparation is required in late summer and autumn. For plots with deep plowing and deep loosening foundations, autumn raking (picking up the stubble) can be carried out, with a raking depth of 12-15 cm, and the raking should be flat and fine, and then ridges should be formed and pressed to reach the state of being ready for sowing. For plots without deep plowing and deep loosening foundations, deep plowing or deep loosening should be carried out first, with a deep plowing depth of 15-18 cm and a deep loosening depth of 25-30 cm, and then the land should be prepared to be ready for sowing.

2. Fertilization

Adopt soil testing and formula fertilization technology, and apply organic fertilizer and chemical fertilizer in combination. This can not only provide the necessary nutrients for the growth and development of kidney beans, but also improve the physical and chemical properties of the soil and increase the utilization rate of chemical fertilizers. Base fertilizer: 15-30 tons of well-rotted high-quality farmyard manure per hectare, combined with land preparation;

Seed fertilizer: Apply 67.5-75 kg of diammonium phosphate, 37.5-45 kg of urea, and 37.5-40.5 kg of potassium sulfate per hectare; Topdressing: During the pod-setting period of kidney beans, use 1.5 kg of potassium dihydrogen phosphate per hectare and 450 kg of water for foliar spraying, and spray again after 7-10 days.

3. Sowing

When the ground temperature at a depth of 5 cm in the soil is stable and exceeds 12°C, sow the seeds. The germinated seeds should be planted in artificial water. First, dig the soil and plant 25 cm apart. Then apply fertilizer. The fertilizer should be applied 4-5 cm below the seeds. Do not apply fertilizer in the same place to avoid burning the seeds. Cover the soil with 4-5 cm and water it sufficiently. Sow 3-4 bud seeds in each soil, sow 4-5 cm deep, and finally cover the soil.

Soybean seeds that are not to be germinated can be sown with a precision seeder. The sowing rate per hectare is 90-97.5 kg, and 210,000-240,000 seedlings can be maintained per hectare.
