How to cultivate lentils artificially?

In the farm yard, we can see that many lentils are cultivated by themselves, so how can we better cultivate lentils artificially?

1. Environmental conditions.

The suitable germination temperature for seeds is 22-23 degrees Celsius. The plant can withstand high temperatures of around 35 degrees Celsius, has a strong and developed root system, is drought-resistant, and has a wide adaptability to soil. Planting in well-drained and fertile sandy soil or loam can significantly increase production.

2. Trellis cultivation.

Lentils are generally sown directly, and the land preparation and fertilization are the same as those of green beans (frame beans). The width of the ridge is 133 cm, the height is 10-15 cm, the furrow width is 50 cm, and two rows are planted per ridge. The row spacing is 70-80 cm, and the plant spacing is 50 cm. For open-field cultivation, sow directly in early and mid-April, sow 3-4 seeds per hole, and cover with 3-4 seeds. The seed amount required per mu is about 3.5-4 kg.

After emergence, thin the seedlings, plant 2 seedlings per hole. After thinning, apply 500 kg of human manure per mu. When the vine is 35 cm long, build a herringbone frame and guide the vines onto the frame. Apply fertilizer twice during the fruiting period, 500 kg of human manure each time. Intertillage and weeding are the same as those for green beans.

3. No support is provided for cultivation.

Early-maturing varieties are cultivated without support. First, prepare the land, apply base fertilizer, make ridges, and raise seedlings in plastic sheds. The seedling period is 30 days, and the seedlings are planted in mid-to-late April. The row and plant spacing is 40 cm each, and 4 seedlings are planted in each hole. When the plant height is 50 cm, leave 40 cm to top it to allow it to grow side branches. When the leaf axils of the side branches grow secondary side branches, top it again, and repeat 4 times.

After harvesting, you can continue to pinch the tops when new shoots appear, so that the plants grow in clusters. The harvest period is in early July, and the yield per mu is 800-1000 kg.
