Flammulina velutipes' requirements for environmental conditions Flammulina velutipes cultivation techniques

I am not saying that Enoki mushrooms can be cultivated under any conditions and any environment. Enoki mushrooms also have their own environmental and condition requirements, so today I will tell you about it:

1. Temperature

The temperature requirements of Flammulina velutipes are different in each growth stage. The temperature range of mycelium growth is 3-34℃, and the optimum temperature is about 23℃; the temperature required for fruiting body differentiation is 10-15℃, and the optimum temperature is 12-13℃. The primordium can grow in the range of 10-20℃. If the temperature exceeds 23℃, the formed primordium will shrink and disappear. The temperature required for normal growth of fruiting bodies is 5-20℃, and the optimum temperature is 8-12℃. After the fruiting bodies occur, short-term cold wind suppression treatment at 4℃ can make the Flammulina velutipes occur neatly and the mushroom shape is round.

2. Humidity

During the mycelium growth stage of Flammulina velutipes, the water content of the culture medium is required to be between 60% and 68%. Practice has shown that according to the different textures of the culture medium, appropriately increasing the water content of the culture medium can play a certain role in increasing production. If the water content of the culture medium is less than 50%, the mycelium will grow sparsely and the structure will be poor; if the water content is higher than 75%, the ventilation will be poor, and the mycelium will grow slowly or stop growing. The optimum water content of the culture medium for fruiting body formation is 65%. If it is lower than 50%, the fruiting body will not form. The relative humidity of the air is maintained at 80% to 85% during primordium differentiation; during the fruiting body development stage, a higher relative humidity of the air is required. In addition to relying on its own water to meet the growth and development of the mushroom body, the relative humidity of the air should be increased to 85% to 95%.

3. Air

Flammulina velutipes is an aerobic fungus and must have sufficient oxygen supply to grow normally. Therefore, sufficient oxygen is needed during the mycelial growth stage and the fruiting body development stage. Otherwise, the mushroom will grow slowly, the stipe will be thin, and the cap will not form, becoming a needle-pointed mushroom. The fruiting body of Flammulina velutipes is very sensitive to the concentration of carbon dioxide in the air. When the carbon dioxide content exceeds 1%, the development of the cap will be inhibited, and when it exceeds 5%, the fruiting body cannot be formed.

4. Light

Flammulina velutipes is a photophobic fungus. Mycelium can grow normally in the dark and primordium can be formed in complete darkness. During the fruiting body growth stage, a certain amount of scattered light can promote the formation of fruiting bodies.

5. Acidity and alkalinity

Flammulina velutipes requires a weakly acidic culture medium and can grow normally within the pH range of 3 to 8.4. During the mycelium growth stage, the optimum pH value of the culture medium is 4 to 7. Within a certain pH range, alkaline culture medium will delay the occurrence of fruiting bodies, and slightly acidic culture medium will allow mycelium to grow vigorously. Fruiting bodies are produced most and fastest at pH 5 to 6. When the pH in the culture medium is lower than 3 or higher than 8, the mycelium stops growing or no fruiting bodies occur.
