Lettuce stems and leaves contain lactucin, which tastes bitter. The bitterness is stronger in high temperature and drought. Lettuce, also known as celery, is not only a nutritious food, but also a medicine with high medical value. The carbohydrate content in lettuce is low, but it is rich in inorganic salts and vitamins, especially niacin. Niacin is an activator of insulin. Diabetics who often eat lettuce can improve their sugar metabolism function. Lettuce also contains a certain amount of trace elements zinc and iron. In particular, the iron in lettuce is easily absorbed by the human body. Regular consumption of fresh lettuce can prevent and treat iron deficiency anemia.

Nutritional value of lettuce

Children who have caught a cold in the abdomen, or adults who have caught a cold, will have dull abdominal pain. If you don't like taking medicine, you can mash the stems and leaves of lettuce, cook them in a boiler, and drink them to relieve abdominal pain. This is because there is a white substance in the stems and leaves of lettuce that can stop the pain.

The white emulsion is called Lactucaium, and its English name is LACTUCAIUM. According to the research of pharmacists, this juice has the effect of analgesia and anesthesia, and there is a new drug that contains the emulsion.

Stop tooth bleeding

Anyone who is physically weak, has insufficient yin, often bleeds between teeth, or has a dry nose and is prone to nosebleeds can use sliced ​​lettuce stems, cook them, add soy sauce or salt and eat them to treat and reduce bleeding.

Urination

When children have difficulty urinating, you can use lettuce stems and leaves, mash them into a paste, and apply it on the navel. The urination will gradually become smooth. This method is recorded in the simple recipes for hygiene. Another way is to use dozens of stalks of green onion, mash them with ten stalks of lettuce, add honey or glycerin to make a paste cake, and apply it on the abdomen above the navel. It can also make urination smooth. There is an important point when applying, that is, the lettuce paste cake should be warmed with hot water before applying to avoid cold. The position of the compress should be away from the navel and applied on the abdomen. Or fill the navel with cotton or gauze in advance to prevent the liquid from seeping in, which is more appropriate.
