Geotrichum

I believe many friends have never heard of the vegetable called ground lettuce. Let me give you a detailed explanation of this vegetable.

Geotrichum

Vegetable farmers in Toudaoshui Village, Kafang Town, Gejiu City found that the cabbages they planted were wilting, turning yellow, and eventually dying. When they pulled out the seedlings for inspection, they found large and small "tumors" growing on the roots. This strange disease phenomenon also appeared on the roots of white, green, and green vegetables, but it was more prominent in cabbage. Recently, the vegetable farmers in Toudaoshui Village asked the media for help, hoping that relevant experts could help find the cause.

Strange "tumor"

Villager Chen Yongjun specially pulled out a few cabbages from the vegetable garden for the reporter to see. The cabbages had spherical nodules on their roots. The larger cabbages had nodules as big as ping-pong balls, while the smaller cabbages had nodules as big as olives. These cabbages with "tumors" had multiple nodules of different sizes on their roots.

Afterwards, Chen Yongjun continued to pull out the roots of white flowers and green vegetables for reporters to see. These vegetables had the same nodules on their roots. The size and shape of the nodules were the same as those of the cabbage. The larger the vegetables grew, the larger and more numerous the nodules became.

"It's strange. Except for green onions, all vegetables have such strange 'tumors' growing on their roots. Even the vegetable seedlings that have just been planted have such small 'tumors'," said Chen Yongjun in confusion.

Villager Zheng Qiongzhen said that the soil here used to be black and oily, and there was no need to manage vegetables at that time, and all kinds of vegetables grew well. In the past two years, the vegetables in the field have contracted this "strange disease" for some reason, and no matter how carefully they are cultivated, the harvest is not good. Her family of four makes a living by growing vegetables. After the disease appeared, she hurried to Kafang Town to consult the dealer who sells pesticides. Based on the symptoms of the vegetables she described, the dealer believed that the cabbage had "big root disease." She followed the advice of the dealer and bought a medicine called "Bai Lai Big Root Disease Water" to prevent and treat the vegetables she planted, but it had no effect. The condition of the cabbage that "took" the medicine never improved.

In the village, there are many villagers like Zheng Qiongzhen who are trying to prevent and treat the "strange disease" of cabbage, but to no avail.

Zheng Qiongzhen also said that someone came to take soil samples this year to understand the vegetable growing process and water usage, but there has been no response, and no one knows what kind of "strange disease" the vegetables have contracted.

Introduction to the knowledge of ground lettuce

Villagers who have been growing vegetables in the area for many years said that there must be no problem with the planting process. After growing vegetables for decades, can't they grow vegetables now? The vegetable seeds were purchased from regular vegetable seed dealers, so there should be no problem. Vegetable farmers in Fengzhengshan, a neighboring village two kilometers away, also used the same seeds, and the vegetables they grew did not have such "tumors".

After investigation, the situation in Fengzheng Mountain is the same as what the villagers said. Yang Baoguang, a vegetable farmer in Fengzheng Mountain, pulled out vegetable roots from the vegetable field to show reporters, and said that the vegetable roots are growing normally without any symptoms of disease. The vegetable seeds they use are the same as those in Toudaoshui Village. Not only do all kinds of vegetables not show similar symptoms, but they are growing well, and a good harvest is in sight.

"It may be that there is something wrong with the irrigation water." Some vegetable farmers said that according to observation, the emergence of vegetables was normal, but after more than 10 days, the cabbage seedlings began to wilt, the white cauliflower leaves turned white, and the green vegetables turned yellow. The more watering, the more obvious it is. The possibility of insect pests is not high, because there are no insects on the roots of the vegetables with "tumors". Villagers suspect that the water source is related to the chemical mineral processing of the mineral processing plant.

Vegetable farmers in Toudaoshui Village said that Toudaoshui mainly grows vegetables, and the villagers here have no other economic income. If the cause of the disease is not found and the "tumor" is not removed, they will have no way to make a living. They hope that experts or experienced vegetable farmers can help find the cause and recommend a "good prescription" to cure it as soon as possible.
