Management of the Peach Garden

Management of the Peach Garden

How much do you know about the management of Pantao Garden? If you don’t know, please read the following content.

Peach Garden Management

The daily management of creeping peach orchards is more meticulous than that of any other orchards. There is a big difference between extensive management and intensive management. The high-yield period of extensive management peaches is only eight to ten years, while the intensive management peach orchards can still produce high yields for as many as fifteen to twenty years.

1. Cultivation and weeding

After irrigation or heavy rain, timely inter-cultivation should be carried out to prevent soil compaction and poor air permeability, and to stop weeds from growing. The inter-cultivation depth is generally 5cm-10cm. When hoeing the land, pay attention to protecting the tree trunks and avoid causing human damage. The vacant areas between the rows can be sprayed with 10% fenvalerate 500 times liquid to kill weeds, which has a good effect. Spray twice during the growing season each year, and the best effect is from early to mid-June to mid-to-late July. Be careful when spraying the pesticide and do not spray the liquid on the peach leaves.

2. Fertilization

Fertilization in peach orchards should be carried out according to the fertility of the land, the age and growth potential of the trees, and the yield. The land is fertile, and organic fertilizer is mainly applied in the 3-4 years of the young tree period. The mature trees have high fruit yields, and the tree vigor is weak. In addition to applying more organic fertilizer, nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers should also be added. Generally, organic fertilizers are applied at a rate of 1:1.5 every year; for example, 75 kg of organic fertilizers are applied to a tree that produces 50 kg of fruit. Fertilization can be carried out in mid-to-late September every year. The method is: dig a ring ditch around the peach tree, and the small ring ditch of the crown is closer to the tree, expanding outward a little every year, and trying to damage the tree roots as little as possible. The most suitable ditch is dug to the middle of the crown projection, with a depth of 25-30cm and a width of 30cm. When fertilizing, first apply phosphorus fertilizer to the bottom of the ditch, then apply organic fertilizer and mix with soil and fill the ditch; phosphorus fertilizer is applied according to the size of the tree. Large trees are 2-3 kg per plant, and small trees are reduced. Water is immediately irrigated after fertilization. You can also use the method of fertilizing with trenches on all four sides. Topdressing of nitrogen fertilizer and micro-fertilizer can be carried out during the growing season, by broadcasting, spraying, or foliar topdressing.

3. Deep plowing of tree trays

This work is an important agronomic measure for peach orchard management. It is conducive to maintaining soil maturation, improving soil micro-circulation structure, maintaining soil permeability, ensuring sufficient light, heat, water and oxygen, creating an environment conducive to peach tree growth, and reducing physiological diseases. This work is carried out twice a year; the first time is carried out after pruning the peach orchard in early spring, combined with cleaning the garden. The tree ditch conditioning is completed in one go. Do not turn the soil too deep this time, and try not to hurt the roots. The second time is in late September in autumn, combined with autumn topdressing of basal fertilizer, and turn the soil immediately after fertilization and irrigation. It should be turned deeper than in spring to hurt some small roots and stimulate the growth of new roots.

4. Bury the tree for the winter

Burying the trees in the soil for the winter is a very large and urgent task in the field. It can only be done within 10 days before and after the onset of winter. It is not ideal to do it too early or too late. Five to six people must work together to slowly press the branches and trunks to the ground along the inclination direction of the branches. Sprinkle weeds or crop straw on the tips of the branches and take soil to press the branches firmly. After all the branches of the plant are placed on the ground and pressed down, cover the tree with grass and wrap it up, and take soil to press the grass down again. After the whole tree is buried, check it. If there are holes that are not sealed tightly, fill the holes with grass to prevent cold air from getting into the tree. This work must be done carefully. Never release or force the trunk down. Release the pressure slowly to avoid breaking the branches and trunks. Let it fall and bury it as naturally as possible.

The focus of Pantao Garden is on excavating trees

In late March or early April of the following year, after the ground thaws, the buried peach trees can be released. The temperature changes greatly in spring, so it can be completed in two steps. The first time, remove the soil pressing on the grass surface, let the tree trunk slowly rise, and after confirming that there is no major weather change, remove the grass covering the trunk branches and prop up the trunk branches as soon as possible to wait for pruning. This work is more time-intensive and requires more care. When removing the grass, be careful not to damage the fruiting branches or pull off the flower buds. The unearthing work must be completed in early April.
