Explanation of the meaning of porridge: Radish, also known as radish, is the fresh root of the cruciferous plant radish and is cultivated all over the country.

Introduction to Radish Porridge

my country is the hometown of radish, which has a long history of cultivation and consumption. As early as in the Book of Songs, there were records about radish. Xu Youxiang of the Yuan Dynasty praised radish as "sweet like taro when cooked, and crisp like pear when eaten raw". It can be eaten raw as fruit, made into dishes, and made into pickles and kimchi, such as Yangzhou's pickled radish and Xiaoshan radish, which are all local specialties.

According to Chinese medicine, radish is pungent, sweet and cool in nature, and enters the spleen and lung meridians. It has the functions of clearing away heat, promoting the production of body fluid, cooling blood and stopping bleeding, relieving qi and relieving fullness, and digesting food and resolving phlegm. The Compendium of Materia Medica says that "radish is available in the world today... the roots and leaves can be raw or cooked, pickled or sauced, made with soy sauce or vinegar, can be sweetened or preserved, and can be eaten with rice or vegetables. It is the most beneficial." The New Compendium of Materia Medica says that it "greatly relieves qi, relieves food and removes phlegm. Drinking raw juice can cure thirst." The Suixiju Diet says that it "treats cough, aphonia, and various throat diseases, and relieves coal poisoning and eggplant poisoning. The cooked one relieves qi and harmonizes the middle, nourishes the spleen and transports food, produces body fluids, resists wind and cold, has turbidity, and nourishes blood." Cooking porridge and eating it can strengthen the spleen and appetite, relieve food and dissipate bloating. It has obvious therapeutic effects on abdominal distension and loss of appetite. As the Compendium of Materia Medica says, "radish porridge: digests food and relieves diaphragm" is a very accurate description.

Nutritional analysis shows that radish contains 91.7% water, rich vitamin C and a certain amount of protein, calcium, phosphorus, iron and other vitamins. In addition, it also contains beneficial ingredients such as lignin, choline, oxidase, glycylase, amylase, mustard oil, etc. Practice has proved that radish has anti-cancer and anti-cancer functions, which is related to the fact that radish contains rich vitamin C and other substances. Vitamin C is an essential substance for maintaining intercellular matrix and plays a role in inhibiting the growth of cancer cells; the saccharifying enzyme contained in radish can decompose nitrosamines in food and greatly reduce the carcinogenic effect of the substance; the lignin contained in radish can increase the vitality of giant cells in the body to engulf cancer cells by 2-4 times; the carotene contained in radish, that is, provitamin A, can promote the increase of hemoglobin and increase blood concentration; the mustard oil and crude fiber contained in radish can promote gastrointestinal motility, increase appetite, help digestion, and promote stool excretion, which helps prevent colon cancer and rectal cancer, lower blood lipids, soften blood vessels, stabilize blood pressure, and prevent coronary heart disease, arteriosclerosis, cholelithiasis, etc. Radish juice can be dropped into the nose to treat migraine, and can be taken as a drink to treat diabetes and thirst. It can also relieve alcohol and treat drunkenness, irritability and thirst.
