How to Ripen Green Mangoes

How to Ripen Green Mangoes

Mango is a tropical fruit. In order to preserve mangoes for a longer time, people often pick mangoes when they are not fully ripe and still green in appearance, and then transport them to all parts of the country. However, this kind of unripe green mango cannot be eaten directly. It needs to be ripened at home. However, some friends do not know how to ripen mangoes, so they miss many good opportunities to eat delicious mangoes. Now I will write down the method of ripening green mangoes that I have summarized. Friends who like to eat mangoes must remember to learn it.

How to Ripen Green Mangoes

1. Use drugs to ripen green mangoes

After you buy green mangoes, if the quantity is relatively large, it is recommended to use drugs to ripen them. Ethephon is one of the most commonly used ripening drugs. This drug does not cause much harm to humans when used in small amounts. You can dilute it and spray it directly on the surface of the green mangoes, and then cover the green mangoes with some items. After two days, the green mangoes will all turn yellow.

2. Use mature fruit to ripen green mangoes

Many people buy mangoes in small quantities, so it is not worth using drugs to ripen them. In this case, you can also use ripe fruits at home to ripen them. The best choice is apples or ripe bananas. Because these ripe fruits will emit some ethylene when stored, and green mangoes will ripen quickly after absorbing ethylene. The specific method is to put the ripe fruits and green mangoes in a plastic bag, tie the mouth tightly, and place it in a warm place. After a few days, they will turn yellow and ripen.

3. Ripening green mangoes with rice

Using rice to ripen green mangoes is also a good choice, because rice will also produce some ethylene gas when it is stored, and this ethylene is an important substance for ripening green mangoes. Therefore, after buying green mangoes, you can go home and bury them in rice. After three or four days, take them out and you will find that the mangoes have become fully ripe.
