What are the effects of watermelon frost?

We are very clear about the effects of watermelon and watermelon seeds, but do we know what the effects of watermelon frost are? Today I will tell you about the effects and general knowledge of watermelon frost:

Watermelon Frost Function and Indications

It can clear away heat, detoxify, reduce swelling and relieve pain. It is used for sore throat, mouth sores, swollen and painful or bleeding gums, mouth sores in children, thrush in children, and mild burns and traumatic bleeding; acute and chronic pharyngitis, tonsillitis, stomatitis, and oral ulcers with the above symptoms.

Watermelon Frost Preparation Method

Method 1: Use unripe watermelon rind and saltpeter to make it. It is usually best to prepare it after the eighth lunar month, when the weather is cool and the watermelon is not easy to rot. Cut a small hole in the relatively unripe watermelon, dig out some of the pulp, put the saltpeter in, then cover the rind, hang it with a rope in the south facing north to air dry, and when the saltpeter seeps out of the watermelon, scrape off the frost to make watermelon frost. ——National Collection of Chinese Herbal Medicines

Method 2: Chop the watermelon rind into small pieces (about 10 jin) and mix it with saltpeter (5 jin), put it into a yellow sand pot, cover it, and hang it in a cool and ventilated place. If there is white frost on the outside of the sand pot, brush it off with a clean brush or paper, and put it into a bottle for later use. ——"Chinese Materia Medica"

Preparation method

1. Choose an unripe watermelon, cut the skin into small pieces, add 15 catties of saltpeter to every 10 catties of skin, mix well, and put into a yellow sand tank. First, put a layer of melon skin as a cushion at the bottom of the tank. When the tank is full of melon skin mixed with saltpeter, put another layer of melon skin on top, cover the tank, and place it in a ventilated place. After a few days, white powder frost will continue to precipitate on the outside of the yellow sand tank. Gently sweep the frost off until the frost is completely precipitated. Pick out the sand scraps from the white frost that has been swept off, and you will get pure watermelon frost.

2. Choose a watermelon weighing about 6-7 jin, cut it open at the base, dig out some of the flesh, fill the watermelon with 1 jin (or more) of saltpeter, then cover it with the cut rind, nail it with bamboo, and hang it in a cool and ventilated place. After about 10 days, white frost will form on the outside of the rind, and you can sweep off the frost gradually. The watermelon frost should be stored in a lime jar or sealed in a porcelain bottle in a cool, dry place, away from moisture and heat.
