Medicinal value of black plum

Black plums are also known as sour plums, yellow plums, Hehan plums, and dried plums. They are smoked with fireworks. If green plums are soaked in salt water during the day and at night, white frost will form after 10 days, which is called white frost plums. They have similar effects and the same precautions. Black plums contain more potassium and less sodium, so they are suitable for people who need to take potassium-excreting diuretics for a long time; black plums contain catechins that can promote intestinal peristalsis, so they are suitable for people with constipation. Black plums contain a variety of organic acids, which can improve liver function, so they are suitable for patients with liver disease. The plum acid in black plums can soften blood vessels, delay vascular hardening, and have anti-aging effects.

The food that modern people like to eat is nothing more than refined food such as refined white cereals, refined white bread, refined white noodles, refined white sugar, chemical seasonings and animal food. Eating these foods will cause a sharp increase in toxins in the blood. Over time, blood circulation will deteriorate and acid will be produced. Eating a black plum every day can help clean the blood, normalize blood flow, and eliminate excess acid.

Black plums have the function of disinfecting and also prevent food from rotting in the stomach and intestines.

5. Eliminate fatigue

When you feel tired, it is physiologically just because of too much acid in the body. So when you are stuck in traffic after get off work and finally get home, you feel exhausted. It is recommended that you eat a black plum, and the tiredness will soon disappear.

6. Eliminate constipation

The malic acid in black plums directs the right amount of water to the large intestine, forming feces and being excreted from the body.

7. Increase appetite

Long-term loss of appetite is caused by poor functioning of some organs in the body. Appetite is caused by stress, overeating, poor liver, stomach and colon function, and poor appetite after illness. If you want to recover quickly, you need to eat. Eating a black plum every day can help restore your appetite.

8. Sobering up

Black plums are also very effective in treating bad breath and hangovers. When celebrating the holidays, it is inevitable to drink a few more cups. If you wake up with a splitting headache, you can try drinking a cup of black plum tea. The method is as follows: use a black plum, soak it in a cup of warm water for about 5 minutes, then add a teaspoon of tea leaves and drink it slowly.

9. Antiemetic for pregnant women

Many pregnant women want to eat sour food instead of greasy food and sweets. This is a natural reaction. When a woman is pregnant, her blood becomes acidic, and the stomach and liver function and energy are reduced. When the body is acidic, calcium will be lost, so some pregnant women's teeth will become loose, and some pregnant women's moods will fluctuate. It is recommended that pregnant women eat a black plum every day to balance it.

Pharmacological effects of black plum:

1. Effect on Ascaris

Wumei has the effect of exciting and stimulating the ascaris to retreat. For example, when Wumei decoction is added to 1% saline and 0.1% sodium bicarbonate solution containing ascaris, the activity of ascaris can be seen to be enhanced. 50g of Wumei decoction was given to dogs through a gastric tube and their bile was collected. Under anaerobic conditions, the ascaris was placed in a rubber tube with a diameter of 0.3-0.5cm, and the rubber tube was placed in a basin of water at 38℃. The collected bile was dripped into the tube from the head of the ascaris. As a result, most of the ascaris retreated from the tube, and some of the ascaris heads retreated from the tube. There are also reports of in vitro tests on 223 kinds of Chinese medicines extracted with hot water to screen drugs with intestinal worm effects, and Wumei was found to be effective.

2. Anti-pathogenic effect

In vitro screening found that black plum has an inhibitory effect on a variety of pathogenic bacteria, such as Shigella dysenteriae, Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhi, Salmonella paratyphi, Bordetella pertussis, and Neisseria meningitidis. It also has an inhibitory effect on Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which may be related to the citric acid and malic acid it contains. It also has an inhibitory effect on certain pathogenic fungi such as tinea barbae, Epidermophyton floccosum, and Microsporum gypseum.

3. Other functions

Black plum has calcium ion antagonism and has strong activity in antagonizing the contraction of guinea pig colon bands caused by potassium ions. Its active ingredient has been isolated as 5-hydroxymethyl-2-furfural. Oral administration of black plum decoction has a slight contraction effect on the gallbladder. In vitro tests have shown that black plum has an inhibitory effect on human cervical cancer JTC-26 strain, with an inhibition rate of more than 90%. Mouse rosette tests have shown that black plum has an enhancing effect on immune function.
