How to propagate hibiscus? Methods of propagating hibiscus by cuttings

Hibiscus is a beautiful ornamental plant, also known as hibiscus, and this plant originated in China and was later introduced to all parts of the world. Now it is cultivated on a large scale in many countries. It is the state flower of Hawaii in the United States and the national flower of Malaysia in Southeast Asia. This plant has a variety of colors and a light fragrance. It can beautify the environment and purify the air. Many people want to grow hibiscus in life, and they also know that it can be propagated by cuttings, but they don’t know how to do it. Today, the editor will tell you in detail.

Method of propagation of hibiscus by cuttings

1. Cutting time

Hibiscus can be propagated by cuttings in many ways, and cuttings can be done all year round, but the survival rate is highest in spring and autumn. If you choose to propagate by cuttings in winter every year, you must carry out necessary insulation treatment, otherwise the temperature will be too low and the cuttings will take root very slowly.

2. Choose cuttings

When propagating hibiscus by cuttings, you can choose its terminal buds or tender branches, which will take root faster and are easy to survive. If you choose semi-lignified or fully lignified branches as cuttings, its rooting speed will be very slow and the survival rate will be relatively low.

3. Operation method

When propagating hibiscus by cuttings, you should prepare flower pots and loose and fertile soil in advance, and water the soil thoroughly. Then insert the healthy cuttings cut from the plant directly into the soil and fix them. Place them in a place with sufficient scattered light. After 2 to 3 weeks, they will germinate and take root at the bottom. Then maintain them for about ten days and then transplant them directly into pots or courtyards.

4. Post-planting management

After the hibiscus is successfully propagated by cuttings, management is also very important. If it is transplanted into a flowerpot, the planted hibiscus should be placed in a cool environment. After the seedling acclimatization period reaches ten days, it can be slowly moved to a sunny environment. If it is transplanted to a courtyard or other field, necessary shading treatment is required. After the seedling acclimatization is successful, the shading facilities can be removed.
