Wisteria cultivation methods and precautions

Wisteria cultivation methods and precautions

Wisteria is a favorite of many flower lovers. It is a kind of vine climbing plant. This plant has a long flowering period, a large number of flowers, and high ornamental value. It is particularly suitable for cultivation indoors or in gardens. However, before cultivating wisteria, you must have a comprehensive understanding of its cultivation methods, and also know what to pay attention to when cultivating this plant.

Wisteria cultivation method

1. Reproduction method

Wisteria has many different ways of reproduction. It can be propagated by sowing, layering, division, grafting, cuttings and other methods. However, in life, sowing and cuttings are the two most commonly used methods. Sowing propagation is mostly carried out in spring every year, while cuttings can be carried out in spring and autumn, but healthy branches must be selected as cuttings.

2. Soil

Wisteria must grow healthily in suitable soil. The trunk of this plant is relatively long. When planting wisteria, you must choose fertile soil with a deep layer of soil, and the soil must have good permeability. It is afraid of a humid environment. If the soil is too wet, its roots will rot, and in severe cases it will induce death.

3. Watering and fertilizing

Wisteria has a well-developed taproot system. It is drought-resistant during its growth, but it also likes moist soil. It should be watered every seven days or so. Watering should be sufficient and thorough, but water should not accumulate in the pot. In addition, during the cultivation period, Wisteria should be fertilized 2 to 3 times a year. Compound fertilizer can be selected. Some nitrogen fertilizer or superphosphate can be used before germination. During the growth period, it can also be topdressed with 2 to 3 times of decomposed human feces and urine.

Breeding precautions

When growing wisteria, you should keep the tree in a beautiful shape, pay attention to the supply of fertilizer and water, and prune and top it in time. When its new branches grow about 15 cm each year, you can top it directly, and prune it once after its flowering period. When pruning, you can cut off all the dense branches, diseased branches and old branches in the wisteria.
