Petunia planting methods and techniques

Petunia is very common in our daily life. It has bright and varied colors, strong fragrance, and a particularly long flowering period. It has a particularly high ornamental value. 1. Planting

The first step in planting petunias is sowing. When sowing, you can choose peat soil with good water retention. You can also add some perlite and vermiculite to the peat soil to increase the air permeability of the soil. After watering the soil with enough water, sow the petunia seeds directly into the soil and place it in a sunny place. Tender seedlings will grow after 3 to 5 days.

2. Fertilization

Fertilization is the most important step in planting petunias, because petunias are fertilizer-loving plants. After entering the peak growth season, they should be fertilized once a week. Long-acting slow-release fertilizers can be selected. After entering the flowering period, they should be fertilized twice a week, and sufficient base fertilizer should be applied when planting. In addition, petunias often suffer from iron deficiency during their growth, so an appropriate amount of ferrous sulfate can be added during normal fertilization.

3. Daily management

After planting, petunias will only be particularly beautiful when they grow into flower balls. This requires people to top them in time during their growth. When their flowers only grow to about 20 to 30 centimeters, their tops should be removed. This will promote the growth of new branches and allow them to grow into flower balls. Petunias are also light-loving plants. They must be placed in a sunny environment at ordinary times. Only in this way can their flowers be bright and their flowering period be particularly long.

4. Sufficient water

Petunias not only like fertilizer but also water. They must be watered sufficiently after planting. Especially after the hot weather in summer, the water evaporates quickly. They should be watered every one to two days. When watering, they must be watered thoroughly. Only after being watered sufficiently, petunias will not be afraid of the sun and can thrive when placed in the sun.
