How to cut peppers without burning your hands What to do if peppers burn your hands

After cutting peppers, you will have a burning sensation and your hands will feel hot. Why is this? What method can be used to relieve this burning sensation? Today, Shaanxi New Oriental Cooking School will tell you based on its own experience.

Capsaicin is soluble in ethanol and alkaline aqueous solutions, but not in cold water. So what should we do?

Be careful when cutting peppers

1. Apply alcohol to dissolve the capsaicin on your hands. After cutting the peppers, you can wipe your hands in one direction with an alcohol cotton ball, then wash your hands with clean water, and then dry them. Do this three times until the symptoms are relieved.

Second, wash your hands with a small amount of vinegar, because vinegar is acidic and can neutralize capsaicin. Washing your hands with hot water is also a good idea, because capsaicin will produce irritating evaporation at high temperatures, although not as good as alcohol and vinegar, but the effect is worse than cold water.

3. Immediately put soap on your hands and scrub vigorously for 5 minutes to greatly relieve the symptoms. Because capsaicin easily adheres to the pores and is soluble in alkaline solutions, using soap can solve the problem.

4. Floral water and cooling oil can also relieve the symptoms of irritated hands.

5. If you have aloe vera gel at home, you can try using it, the effect is also very good.

Cut the peppers

The substance that produces the spicy taste in peppers is a type of capsaicin, which is collectively called capsaicin. When you cut peppers, capsaicin gets on your skin, causing the capillaries to dilate, causing the skin to become red and hot, and accelerating the local metabolic rate. At the same time, it also stimulates the pain nerves, which is why we usually feel burning hands. It is generally believed that this is caused by the chemical conversion of the nerve endings in the skin by capsaicin.

Kind tips:

In fact, when cutting peppers, you can press the peppers with the tips of your fingers instead of pinching them with your fingernails, so that your hands will not be easily burned.
