Reason 1: Eating apples can help you lose weight

A medium-sized apple contains only 60 to 100 kcal of calories, contains no fat and no sodium. For girls who are losing weight, it is the best food.

In a study conducted by the University of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, overweight middle-aged women were divided into three groups. Each group ate a low-calorie diet and ate three apples, three pears or three oatmeal cookies (the dietary fiber content of the three foods was equal) every day. After 12 weeks, it was found that the women who ate apples and pears lost 1.22kg, while the weight of the women who ate oatmeal cookies did not change much. Apples are high-fiber, low-calorie foods. Eating apples regularly will not easily make you feel hungry and reduce calorie intake, which helps to lose weight.

Reason 2: Nutrients and other phytochemicals in apples help fight cancer

Obesity in women not only affects their daily work, life and appearance, but also makes them more susceptible to cancer. A Japanese research team conducted a nine-year follow-up survey on 15,054 adult women and eventually found that 668 women had cancer. Statistical analysis showed that compared with women of normal weight, overweight or obese women have a 29%-47% higher risk of cancer; the higher the female body mass index, the greater the risk of breast cancer, colorectal cancer, endometrial cancer and gallbladder cancer. Studies have shown that being overweight or obese is a risk factor for cancer in women. So is there any way for women to lose weight and prevent cancer? Yes, you can eat apples often.

Italian researchers investigated the diet of 629 cancer patients and found after a detailed analysis that compared with eating less than one apple a day, eating more than one apple a day can reduce the risk of colorectal cancer, esophageal cancer, laryngeal cancer, breast cancer and ovarian cancer by 9%-42%. In addition to traditional nutrients and dietary fiber, apples are also rich in flavonoids, which are natural antioxidants; and compared with other fruits, apples have a higher proportion of free flavonoids, which are easier to be absorbed by the human body. These natural antioxidants can protect the genetic material DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) from damage by oxidative stress and have a strong anti-cancer effect.

Reason 3: Eating an apple every day (preferably with the skin) can also prevent stroke

Apples are good for health and are the guardian of women's health. It is best to eat apples with the skin, because compared with the apple flesh, the apple skin has a higher content of flavonoid compounds, stronger antioxidant activity, and can prevent stroke in middle-aged and elderly women. However, since a large amount of pesticides may be used in the apple planting process, if the apples are not carefully washed before eating, the fertilizers and pesticides retained in the apple skin may cause leukemia and other diseases. Therefore, if the "naturalness" of the apple cannot be guaranteed, it is best to wash and peel the apple before eating.
