[Effects and indications] It can eliminate dampness and heat, and relieve jaundice. It is suitable for acute infectious jaundice hepatitis, urination difficulties, and yellow urine like strong tea color.

Introduction of Artemisia capillaris porridge

[Cooking method] First wash the Artemisia capillaris, boil the juice, remove the residue, add the japonica rice and add appropriate amount of water to cook porridge. When it is almost cooked, add appropriate amount of white sugar and cook for one or two boils.

[Explanation of the meaning of porridge] It is a well-known medical common sense that Artemisia capillaris is the main medicine for treating jaundice. Artemisia capillaris is also called Artemisia capillaris and Artemisia capillaris. It is the young stems and leaves of the Asteraceae plant Artemisia capillaris. It is harvested in spring when the young ones are about three inches tall. If it is harvested too early, the effect will be poor. As the saying goes, "Artemisia capillaris in March is like Artemisia argyi in April, and Artemisia capillaris in May is like firewood." This means that if it is harvested too early, the medicinal effect will be poor and the value will be small. Artemisia capillaris is distributed in most parts of my country, mainly in Shaanxi, Shanxi and Anhui. The ones with tender texture, softness, gray-green color and strong fragrance are preferred.

Artemisia capillaris is a medicine with a slightly bitter taste, cool nature, non-toxicity and a unique aroma. It was first recorded in the "Shennong Bencao Jing" of the Han Dynasty for the treatment of jaundice. Until today, the history of Artemisia capillaris in treating jaundice has been more than 2,000 years. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the formation of jaundice.

This is mainly because damp-heat evil fumigates the liver, gallbladder, spleen and stomach, and Artemisia capillaris is specialized in clearing damp-heat, so it can also have a good effect when used alone. As the ancient medicine book "Compendium of Materia Medica" said: "Artemisia capillaris, with a light taste and diuretic, is a special medicine for treating damp-heat in the spleen and stomach. Wet jaundice, alcohol jaundice, yellow body and red urine like sauce are all symptoms of dampness and heat accumulation in the stomach. Ancient and modern times have used this medicine as the main medicine, and its effect is very fast." According to pharmacological research, this product has a choleretic effect, can increase bile secretion in tobacco leaves, and has a fever-relieving function. This proves that the clinical practice experience for thousands of years is indeed valuable. Modern clinical reports have shown that Artemisia capillaris alone, 30 to 45 grams each time, was used to treat 32 cases of jaundice-type infectious hepatitis. After taking the medicine, the fever can be quickly reduced, and it also has a significant effect on the disappearance of jaundice and the reduction of liver and spleen. The average course of treatment is 7 days, and there are no side effects.

The ancients had long recorded the use of Artemisia capillaris to cook porridge. In the "Porridge Recipe" by Huang Yunhu of the Qing Dynasty, it is recorded that "Artemisia capillaris porridge can expel water and dampness and treat jaundice." There is a secret of combined application. Patients with jaundice hepatitis often have poor appetite and eat less. If Artemisia capillaris is used alone for decoction, it may treat jaundice, but it cannot supplement nutrients; eating porridge alone can certainly help hepatitis patients to a certain extent, replenish water and increase nutrition, but it has no effect of promoting bile and relieving jaundice. Cooking porridge with Artemisia capillaris and polished rice can combine tonic and treatment, and combine tonic treatment with medicine and food treatment, which can achieve twice the effect of medicine with half the effort. Adding white sugar to cook porridge together can not only protect the liver, but also correct the bitterness of Artemisia capillaris. Even in the recovery period of jaundice hepatitis, patients insist on taking Artemisia capillaris porridge, which is also very helpful for the complete recovery of the disease.

[Precautions] When cooking Artemisia capillaris porridge, it should be thin, not thick. Only polished rice can be used, not glutinous rice. The course of treatment is 7 to 10 days, divided into 2 to 3 times a day. It should not be taken for "yellow fat disease" caused by hookworms.
