How to grow nasturtiums? Nasturtium cultivation methods and techniques

1. Seed germination

It is very important to germinate nasturtium seeds when growing them. Before germination, the seeds should be soaked in clean water for 24 hours, and then placed in a plastic container. Put two layers of wet towels underneath, place the seeds, cover them with warm paper towels, and close the lid. The seeds will germinate after three days.

2. Seedling cultivation

Seedling cultivation is also very important when growing nasturtium. When raising seedlings, you can mix old grass, perlite and vermiculite in a one-to-one ratio, then bury the germinated nasturtium seeds in it, water them enough, and place them in a warm environment. After three to five days, the seeds will emerge from the soil and grow into seedlings.

3. Topping and pinching

When the nasturtium grows five or six leaves, it needs to be topped and pinched. This will help it to grow new branches and bloom more. Sometimes the nasturtium can be pinched twice, leaving only four large leaves.

4. Planting

When the outdoor temperature rises in spring, you can consider starting transplanting. The minimum outdoor temperature must rise to above ten degrees. When transplanting, you can also use perlite, vermiculite and peat as the potting soil in the flowerpot. At this time, you can add 10% chicken manure or earthworm fertilizer as base fertilizer. After transplanting, you must first place it in a cool place for five to six days of seedling growth before moving it to the sun.
