How to quick-freeze cowpeas Steps to quick-freeze cowpeas

One winter, I went to visit a friend. He made me a dish of stir-fried cowpeas with meat. It looked very fresh and tasted very good. I asked him where he bought the cowpeas. He said he froze them. I was very surprised. After learning more about it from him, I realized that in the summer when cowpeas are on the market in large quantities, I can buy some and make quick-frozen cowpeas after simple processing. This way, I can eat fresh and delicious cowpea dishes all year round. Below I write down the quick-freezing method of cowpeas that I learned from my friend so that everyone can learn how to quick-freeze cowpeas.

How to Quick Freeze Cowpeas

1. Selection of quick-frozen cowpea raw materials

If you want to make quick-frozen cowpeas, you must choose cowpea varieties with a darker color and uniform size. In addition, the cowpeas cannot be too old, and the appearance should be light green or turquoise. Cowpeas of two different colors cannot be mixed together. In addition, the cowpeas to be quick-frozen must not have insect eyes or signs of insect bites.

2. Treatment of quick-frozen cowpea before processing

After selecting the cowpeas, use a knife to cut them into five to six centimeter segments. When cutting, first cut off the two ends of the cowpeas, and then remove the different colored beans or spotted beans in the middle. After cutting, place them in 2% light salt water for pickling. The pickling time should be about fifteen minutes to remove the impurities pickled out.

3. Freezing treatment of quick-frozen cowpea

Take the cut cowpea out of the salt water and rinse it, then put clean water in a pot and boil it, then add the cut cowpea segments and blanch them for one to five minutes until their color turns bright green and there is no beany smell. Then take them out and put them in cold water to cool them down. After cooling, put them in a fresh-keeping bag and put them in the refrigerator for a few hours. Then take them out and put them in the freezer to freeze them.
