How to make yam porridge

Yam Porridge

Early in the morning, prepare a bowl of hot porridge for all visiting friends to warm their stomachs.

Let me tell you what is in the porridge: glutinous rice, rock sugar, minced ginger, yam, and wolfberry. Cooked in one pot. It is a tonic porridge that is both food and medicine, warming the stomach and nourishing the kidneys.

How to make yam porridge

(1) Chicken stewed with yam (soup)

Main ingredients: 2000g fresh yam, 1000g fresh chicken. Accessories: 2 scallions (cut into sections), 3 slices of ginger, a little sesame oil, salt and pepper. Method: 1. Cut the yam into sections. 2. Use a pressure cooker to cook the chicken until it is 30% cooked, then pour in the yam sections and add the accessories and cook over low heat for 20 minutes.

(2) Stir-fried yam slices

Main ingredients: some fresh yam. Accessories: 2 scallions (cut into sections), 1 garlic sprout (chopped), a little ginger slices, vinegar, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. The cooking method is the same as that of fried lotus root slices with vinegar.

(3) Stir-fried pork with yam

Main ingredients: 200g fresh yam, 300g tenderloin. Accessories: 50g carrot, 50g cucumber, 2 scallions (cut into sections), 3 slices of ginger, a little salt, wine, and pepper. Medicinal materials: 5 qian of Astragalus, 3 qian of Saposhnikovia, 2 qian of Atractylodes, 10 jujubes. Method: 1. Cut carrots and cucumbers into sections with a serrated knife. 2. Boil the medicinal materials and ginger slices in 4 bowls of water into 1 bowl of medicinal juice for later use. 3. Cut the tenderloin into thin slices and add all the seasonings to marinate. 4. After frying the scallion sections with a little oil, add the meat slices and stir-fry until they change color. 5. Pour in the yam, carrots and cucumbers, pour the medicinal juice, add salt to taste and stir-fry for about 1 minute.

(4) Peel and clean the fresh yam, cut it into soybean-sized pieces, put it into a soymilk machine, grind it and cook it. It is ready to eat. This is called yam milk.

Nutritional information of yam porridge

(You can add an appropriate amount of sugar for therapeutic effect. Yam tastes sweet and is neutral in nature. It enters the lung, spleen, and kidney meridians. It is not dry or greasy.

It has the effects of strengthening the spleen and lungs, benefiting the stomach and kidneys, strengthening the kidneys and improving essence, improving hearing and eyesight, helping the five internal organs, strengthening the tendons and bones, improving will and calming the mind, and prolonging life.

It is mainly used to treat spleen and stomach weakness, fatigue, loss of appetite, chronic diarrhea, lung qi deficiency, phlegm and cough, kidney qi deficiency, soreness of waist and knees, weakness of lower limbs, thirst and frequent urination, spermatorrhea and premature ejaculation, leucorrhea, red and swollen skin, obesity and other symptoms. "Compendium of Materia Medica" summarizes the five major functions of "benefiting kidney qi, strengthening spleen and stomach, stopping diarrhea, resolving phlegm and saliva, and moisturizing skin". Cooking yam into porridge or stewing it with rock sugar is effective for chronic diseases such as poor health, enteritis, and kidney deficiency.
