Precautions for eating fruits in summer Which fruits can be eaten in summer and which fruits cannot be eaten

The seasons are divided into winter and summer, the weather is divided into cold and hot, and fruits do not taste hot when eaten, but their properties can also be divided into cold, warm, etc.

Although many fruits have just been put on the market in early summer, many people have already had problems eating them. For example, eating too many apricots can cause internal heat, dizziness, stomachache, nosebleeds and other symptoms, and people come to see doctors. Although summer is the peak season for eating fruits, and fruits are rich in vitamins, water and minerals, which are very beneficial to human health. However, from the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine nutrition, fruits are divided into cold and hot. If your body is not suitable for eating cold or hot fruits, improper consumption or eating too much will have serious negative effects on your body.

So, how do we classify fruits into cold and hot ones, and how should people choose them? To this end, the reporter visited Dr. Li Changping from the Nutrition Department of Beijing Hospital.

Cold fruits relieve heat

According to Dr. Li, most summer fruits are cold, such as pears, apples and various melons. Generally speaking, people with a hot constitution have a strong metabolism in summer, the sympathetic nerves are dominant, they sweat a lot, often have a red face, dry mouth, irritability, and constipation, and they especially like to eat cold things in summer. Therefore, people with a hot constitution can eat more cold fruits.

However, cold fruits should not be eaten too much, otherwise it will be harmful to the body. For example, apples are sweet and have the effects of stopping diarrhea, laxative and aiding digestion. Eating them regularly can make the skin white and tender. However, because they are rich in sugars and potassium salts, eating too much will damage the health of the heart and kidneys. Patients with coronary heart disease, myocardial infarction, nephritis and diabetes should not eat too much. However, people with insufficient qi and mental fatigue can eat more of them as a tonic fruit.

Fruits like pears, oranges, and grapefruits can relieve coughs, reduce phlegm, moisten the lungs, and aid digestion, but eating too much can easily cause gastrointestinal disorders, toothaches, hemorrhoids, and even yellow spots on the skin. Therefore, people with stomach problems or cold stomachs should eat less.

Doctor Li emphasized that people with qi deficiency and spleen deficiency should be especially cautious when choosing cold fruits such as watermelon, cantaloupe, mango, pear and banana, and it is best not to eat them. Qi deficiency generally refers to people or children with insufficient qi and weak strength. These people are generally pale, thin and can't eat; spleen deficiency means that the digestive system is relatively poor and the intestinal peristalsis is slow. Therefore, the more cold fruits you eat, the more you will reduce gastrointestinal peristalsis and make your muscles weak. Eating too much will cause abdominal distension due to indigestion. Therefore, the elderly and children with poor gastrointestinal function are not suitable for eating cold fruits. If you really want to eat them, you can eat a little after lunch or before dinner, but not too much.

Warm fruits to replenish coldness

Although there are many cold fruits in summer, among many fruits, warm fruits such as lychee, longan, apricot, etc. are also quite popular. Especially for people with cold constitution, they have weak qi and spleen, low basal metabolic rate, less heat generated in the body, and their limbs are cold even in summer. In comparison, the complexion of this group of people is whiter than that of ordinary people, and they are rarely thirsty and do not like to touch cold things, including entering air-conditioned rooms. Therefore, it is undoubtedly a good product for these people to eat more warm fruits to replenish the cold.

However, eating too many warm fruits on a hot day can easily cause people to get angry. For example, lychees contain hypoglycemic ingredients, and eating too many of them will cause hypoglycemia. People with hot constitutions should avoid eating warm fruits because they are energetic, have trouble falling asleep at night, and have a high metabolic rate. In addition, children who have a fever or inflammation of an organ should also try to avoid eating them.
