Ingredients and methods of making Wowotou

Have you ever eaten Wowotou? It is made of cornmeal. Today I will introduce it to you:

Introduction to Wowotou

Wo Wo Tou originated from the palace. It is small and exquisite with golden color. It was a favorite snack of the dignitaries at that time.

The small steamed bread should be the size of one bite. The one I used was about 10 grams.

The preparation of the small steamed bread is very particular. The thickness of the steamed bread is 0.3cm, the color is golden and the taste is delicate.

Ingredients for Wowotou

100g cornmeal 50g soybean flour

10g sugar 2g yeast

5g sugar osmanthus

How to make Wowotou

1. Mix cornmeal + soybean flour + sugar + sweet osmanthus

2. Mix yeast and clean water below 30 degrees evenly and add to the flour mixture

3. Knead the flour into a dough. If it is too dry, add a little water to adjust it. Then cover it with a cloth and let it rise for a while.

4. Roll the dough into long strips and cut into equal-sized pieces with a knife. Each piece is about 10 grams.

5. Take a dough and use the palm of one hand and the fingers of the other hand to shape it into a small steamed bun. Use your fingers to push a small hole in the bottom of the bun.

6. After all the dough is done, cover it with a cloth and let it sit for 15 minutes. Add water to the steamer, put a damp cloth on it, put the small steamed bread dough on it, bring it to a boil over high heat, then turn to medium heat and steam for about 15 minutes.

Tips

Many Beijing-style whole-grain snacks use cornmeal, which is high in fiber and rich in vitamins and minerals, and can promote gastrointestinal motility.

After eating greasy food, eating a few small steamed breads can speed up gastrointestinal circulation and accelerate the excretion of feces, which can prevent and treat constipation, enteritis, etc.

It also has the effect of delaying aging, so it is highly recommended for everyone to eat it.
