Longan

It is mainly used to treat evil qi in the internal organs, anorexia, loss of appetite, and expel intestinal parasites and schistosomiasis. Long-term consumption can strengthen the body, prolong life, calm the mind, strengthen the brain, increase wisdom, stimulate appetite, strengthen the spleen, and replenish physical weakness. Fresh longan can be washed in boiling water and eaten without hurting the spleen. Li Shizhen said: Lychee is the most expensive food, and longan is the best for strengthening the body and brain. This is because lychee is hot in nature, while longan is neutral in nature. It can treat excessive thinking that hurts the heart and spleen.

Indications

Mainly used to treat underarm odor. Use six pieces of this herb and grind them with ten pieces of pepper, and apply them to the affected area when you sweat.

Characteristics of Longan

【Morphology】: Evergreen large tree, tall tree. Most of them are even-pinnate compound leaves, leaflets are opposite or alternate, leathery, elliptical to ovate-lanceolate, with short pointed or obtuse tips, oblique bases, entire or wavy edges, and usually pink-green underneath; panicles are terminal or axillary, with yellow-white flowers and rusty star-shaped pubescence: calyx 5 deeply lobed: petals 5, spoon-shaped, hairy inside: stamens usually 8: ovary 2~3 chambers, stigma 2-lobed; fruit spherical, seeds black, shiny. Flowering period is March to April, and fruiting period is July to August. It likes warmth and avoids freezing, and the annual average temperature of 20~22℃ is more suitable. It is sensitive to low temperature; the annual average temperature is usually <17.5~18℃, the average temperature of the coldest month is <10℃, and the absolute low temperature is <-5℃, so longan is difficult to be cultivated economically. It is relatively drought-resistant, and the optimal annual precipitation is 1000~1600mm; it has strong adaptability to soil. 【Habit】: Wild longan is a common tree species in the semi-evergreen seasonal rain forests of low mountains, hills and terraces in southwestern Hainan. The average annual temperature in the distribution area is 24-26℃, and the annual precipitation is 900-1700 mm. It likes dry and hot habitats. During the growth and development process throughout the year, it requires a temperature of 18-25℃ and appropriate drought in winter and spring (November to April), and a high temperature of 26-29℃ and abundant rainfall during the growth period between summer and autumn (May to November). It is a light-loving tree species. Seedlings cannot tolerate excessive shade, and mature trees need full sunlight. It has good natural regeneration and is a deep-rooted tree species that can take root and grow in arid and barren soils. It has strong germination ability, and stumps that have been cut down or burned can quickly sprout and renew. Natural growth is slow, and the height of a 83-year-old tree is only 20.2 meters and the diameter at breast height is 27 cm. It blooms in March and April, and the fruit ripens in July and August.
