How to identify poisonous leeks

How to identify poisonous leeks

Leek is a common vegetable in people's lives, but in recent years, there have always been some incidents of leek poisoning, which makes people more worried when buying and eating leeks. How can we avoid buying poisonous leeks? The following editor will write down the identification method of poisonous leeks and tell you.

How to identify poisonous leeks

1. Look at the appearance of leeks

When you go to buy leeks, you can look at the appearance of the leeks. If the appearance of the leeks is particularly good and looks very pleasing, then you should be careful and try not to buy them. Because the more beautiful the leeks are, the more likely they are to be watered with pesticides, and the more pesticide residues there will be in their roots, most of which are toxic residues.

2. Look at the leaves of chives

When buying leeks, many people prefer to buy those with enlarged leaves, thinking that they are of better quality than leeks with smaller leaves. In fact, this thinking is wrong. Those leeks with black and dark leaves and particularly enlarged leaves are mostly poisonous leeks, and it is not recommended to buy and eat them.

3. Properly handle the purchased leeks

In order to avoid poisoning after eating leeks, you can do necessary processing on the leeks you bought. The simplest way is to soak them in clean water. Because the medicinal properties in leeks are mostly soluble in water, soak them in clean water for three or four hours to dilute their toxicity. Wash them a few more times before eating and it will be much safer.
